I came across the story of Rick Hendrick recently, and it reminded me of the importance of finding the keys to success.

 Rick is a very well known businessman in the US who has built up a huge network of dealerships earning a profit of millions of dollars each year.

On the face of it , that sounds nice. But Rick has achieved these blessings despite huge obstacles in his way, including leukamia and the death of close family members.

He atributes his immense success to what he calls his 10 Keys To Success, which are:

1. Optimism. Think positive.
2. Faith. Believe in yourself, God and your country.
3. Planning. Know what’s important each day; set your priorities accordingly.
4. Determination. Have the courage to stand alone when taking the big risks in life.
5. Vision. Think big, dream big, keep success in your mind.
6. Attitude. If you think you can’t, you’re right. Winners have positive attitudes.
7. Goals. Set goals. Plan how to achieve them.
8. Perseverance. Try and try again until the goal is achieved. Never give up.
9. Knowledge. Learn to accept your mistakes, but make them only once.
10. Enthusiasm. Choose work you like. Enjoy the challenges.

Now we all have our own personal challenges, which often distract us from working towards our goals.

But I think you will agree that if you printed out these 10 Keys To Success and stuck the list up on the wall where we could see it every day, it would keep you full of motivation and energy to build your business to new levels.

No matter what you do currently, by applying these success principles on a consistent basis you will improve your situation in life in many different areas.

One of my favourite books of all time is “The Magic of Thinking Big” by David J. Schwartz.

 Written in 1959, it is a timeless classic which I came across over 10 years ago when a business friend gave me a copy to help me overcome some obstacles I had encountered in my own offline business.

A key idea that I got from the book was this:   Think of the people who earn five times as much as you. Are they five times smarter? Do they work five times harder? If the answer is no, then the question “What do they have that I haven’t?” may occur to you. 

 David Schwartz’s suggestion in The Magic of Thinking Big is  that the main thing that seperates these people from the rest of humanity is that they think five times bigger. We are all, more than we realise, the product of the thinking which surrounds us, and most of this thinking is little, not big.

I was reminded of that principle watching the Olympics over the last two weeks. Many people around the world have the capacity to win the gold medal, but only a select few are prepared to put in the effort needed to reach that level.

Why? Because what sets them apart initially is their thinking. They see in their mind’s eye the possibilities open to them in the future, and then they keep this picture alive in their mind while they take the massive action needed to reach their objective.

During the research conducted in preparation for his book, Schwartz was told that the key factor in personal success was simply the desire for it. Rather than being ‘too many Chiefs and not enough Indians’, the opposite is true. Some people choose to lead, others to follow. Success is not primarily a matter of circumstances or native talent or even intelligence - it is a choice.

And unlike the Olympics, in business and in life there can be multiple winners. In fact anyone can be successful if they adjust their thinking and take consistent, focused action to achieve their goals. That is the real Magic of Thinking Big.

Good question…Have you put a weekly success plan in place?

 How do you go about doing that?.

Well, for me one of the greatest benefits of having an online business is that I get access to all types of information and ideas from the comfort of my easy chair.  But getting that information, and applying it effectively are two very different things.

So it is very important to have an effective plan pointing towards your success destination, whatever that may be for you.

My membership of Success University gave me access to Jim Rohn’s Weekly Success Plan.

Reading some posts last week on the Warrior Forum got me thinking, Is there a fast way to make money online?

I know, I know , before you all tell me that there is no such thing as a get rich scheme, relax! That’s not what I’m talking about. Getting started in business online will incur a cost to you, and naturally you would want to cover those costs as quickly as possible.

As many of you know I took part in the PipsPowerGroup (PPG) $500 “Summer” Giveaway competition recently. The winner of the friendly contest was David Hurley, who set a great pace from the start and led from the front!
