Finding Out Who Really Owns Your Business

Nearly all home business owners love the idea of owning their own business, but after a period of time it may become obvious that although their name is above the door, and they are responsible for every regulatory aspect of their business, they may not be the actual owner. Whether you have accepted a business offer from an online client, bought part of a franchise, or accepted investments from friends or relatives, the ownership of your home business may be the cause of some wrinkles.

 

As part of the online business world, you have probably seen many offers to sign up with a company and run your own business. Even though your name, or your business name may be on the website, it is still owned by the main company. You are nothing more than a distributor for their goods or services, and without any choice you are following their business model, selling their products at pre-set prices and earning what the company determines your efforts are worth.

 

Of course, that is not to say this is a bad thing, but many people who join up with these companies are deluded into thinking they are the business owners. You will not be able to make any alterations on the website, nor will you be able to sell anything that is not approved by the main company, and in a majority of these cases you will not be allowed to adjust your pricing. The only thing that you are able to control is how much money you spend on marketing your new business model.

 

Franchising can be an excellent way to start a business, whether bricks and mortar, or strictly online, but it presents a similar situation for most franchise business owners. Fees will be charged to take advantage of any national advertising campaigns, and you may be limited to using only products bought from them, or their authorized distributors. Again, your name will be put up there as owning the franchise for the business, but not the business itself.

 

Obtaining funding for a start-up business can be difficult, with limited choices available. If you have managed to save enough money over a number of years to enable you to fund your own start-up business and accept money from no outside sources, then you are really owner of the business. If you need to obtain money from investors, they may want to have a say in how the business is run, in order to protect their own investment, and if you hit your credit cards limits to fund your new business, then it is owned jointly by you and the credit card provider!

 

A common mistake many start-up business owners make is asking for loans from family members to get their business up and running. While this may well seem like a great idea at the time, conversation at family gatherings will go in the same direction as the business. If business is going well, and everyone is making some money from their investments, then these occasions can be a happy and fun time. However, if business is not going quite as well as hoped, Grandmas cooking may not be the only thing talked about at your next family occasion!.

Leisure Audio Books is working for me as I write!

I recently became a member of Leisure Audio Books, and I want to share my humble opinion with you today.

This is like nothing I have ever experienced before, I was shocked to find that is totally unique, never seen before, and I believe it to be revolutionary, and I'll explain why.

In my past experience, you join a typical program, they give you some cheesy promo tools, and they never say a word to you, they just expect you to go out and recruit as best you can on your own...

If you are going to become a successful affiliate on the Internet, you need 3 "intangibles." These are things that must come from WITHIN you.

First, you must have a strong WHY.

If you don't believe that it's POSSIBLE for you to make money with affiliate programs or make your living on the Internet, you won't. It's that simple.

The lesson here is that you will never really be READY to start an affiliate marketing business. You simply have to start one. This is what I call "Making the Leap."

The good news is that the cost of failure on the Internet is very small. In the "brick and mortar" world you need to evaluate things very carefully before you decide to open up a business. It's almost always necessary to invest thousands of dollars to get an offline business off the ground. However, on the Internet you can often start a successful business for less than $100.
